LA BATALLA DE RANDE
El 15 de octubre de 1702 una flota compuesta por 25 navíos ingleses y holandeses, en el curso de la Guerra de Sucesión española, irrumpió en la ría de Vigo en busca de la caza y saqueo de la flota de la plata, recién llegada de América, formada por 19 galeones españoles y escoltada por 23 buques de guerra franceses.
La cruenta batalla que siguió a continuación, la Batalla de Rande, supuso la pérdida de la flota franco-española, de parte del tesoro acumulado en oro, plata y mercaderías diversas y de miles de vidas entre soldados, marinos y población civil. http://www.revistaiberica.com/Grandes_Reportajes/rande.htm
EL MODELO.
Se sabe muy poco de la apariencia externa de los navíos españoles de la época. Consultando la iconografía contemporánea, muy escasa, así como las ordenanzas y tratados de construcción naval de este momento, última mitad del S. XVII, he realizado una reconstrucción ideal de un navío de 60 cañones que pudiera ser contemporáneo a las naves de Rande.
Me he permitido algunas licencias en cuanto a la ornamentación, muy barroca, pero siempre basándome en dibujos y pinturas de ese siglo. Son privilegios del modelista.
El modelo está construido a escala 1/30 y mide aproximadamente 1,80 m. desde la punta del botalón del bauprés al coronamiento.
Pertenece a la colección particular de D. Cesar Martín Martín.

The 15 of October of 1702 a fleet composed by 25 English and Dutch ships, into the course of the War of Spanish Succession, burst in into laughs of Vigo in search of the hunting and sacking of the fleet of the silver, just arrival of America, formed by 19 Spanish galleons and escorted by 23 French ships military.

THE MODEL.
It is known very little of the external appearance of the Spanish ships of the time. Consulting the contemporary iconography, very little, as well as the decrees and treaties of naval construction of this moment, last half of S. XVII, I have made an ideal reconstruction of a ship of 60 tubes that could be contemporary to the ships of Rande. I have allowed some licenses as far as the decoration, very baroque, but always basing on drawings and paintings to me of that century. They are privileges of the modelist.
The model is constructed to scale 1/30 and measures approximately 1.80 m.s from the end of the boom of the bowsprit to the termination.
It belongs to the particular collection of D. Cesar Martín Martín.
